Two opponents stand squarely across from each other, a dramatic tension builds, then each party moves for their weapons and the quickest draw wins with a bang. In the tension we feel as we watch and wait to see who will pull their gun faster we understand the travesty that it would be for one to realize that they had brought the wrong weapon to this standoff. In business it can sometimes feel as though you are at a standoff with your competition. To try and carry on the noble effort of running your company can be a little unsteadying, but to go on that adventure with no, or little, idea of what you are up against and how your strategies measure up will leave you shaking in your boots. It is important to be proactive in knowing what ‘weapons’ your company has in its back pocket as well as to know what your company is up against. This can help you not only track your progress, but can also help you pinpoint which specific areas need more attention and resources so that you can hit all your targets in all the right places as you execute your business plan.
